The Hall of Fame catcher Mickey Cochrane won the first of his two American League MVP awards in 1928 while playing for the Philadelphia Athletics. Cochrane, in his age-26 season the following year in 1929, hit for a .331 batting average, with 7 home runs, 95 RBI, and 113 runs scored for the 104-win Athletics. “Black Mike” added 8 triples and 69 walks against only 8 strikeouts as he continued to build his Hall of Fame legacy. Cochrane played until 1937 with the Detroit Tigers, retiring with a sky-high .320 batting average and three World Series rings. Offered here is a sepia-toned 8 x 10-inch photo of Mickey Cochrane in his Philadelphia Athletics uniform. The photo was taken from the chest up and Cochrane is smiling with his arms crossed. The Hall of Famer has signed this photo in blue pen and inscribed above his name “To Harry + Marie Two great fans and real friends”. The back of the photo has a “3” handwritten in pencil, along with remnants of black paper on the top and bottom that appear to be left over after this photo was removed from that backing. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
