Offered in this lot is a pair of Adidas baseball cleats worn and signed by the Hall of Fame shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. The Baltimore Orioles icon played his entire career in his native Maryland, collecting 3,184 hits, 431 home runs, and a pair of American League MVP trophies in his 21-season career. Ripken led the Orioles to the 1983 World Series title, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in a five-game Fall Classic. Ripken was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 on his first ballot.
The cleats offered in this lot are black low-top Adidas cleats, with three orange Adidas stripes sewn on both sides of the shoes. The tops of the heels are orange, with both bearing an Adidas logo and a horizontal, hand-written “8”. Ripken has signed the heels of both cleats in silver marker. The shoes come with a STICKER ONLY from MEARS (303798) for game use, and a pair of MLB Authenticated holograms for Ripken’s signatures (BB635506 & BB635507).
