Rogers Hornsby may simply have been the greatest hitter that ever lived. Near Ty Cobb's equal in batting average with a .358 lifetime average, he holds the modern record for highest average in a season at .424 in 1924. But he did what Cobb did not, and that is hit for power. Twice he won the triple crown including 1922 when he did the trick with 42 HR,152 RBI and a .401 average. He hit over .400 three times in a career, all the while playing second base. We present an exceptional game used bat from this legendary Hall of Famer. This Powerized Louisville Slugger bat, made of professional grade ash, with a flared knob that is consistent with Hornsby's signature. MEARS has pinpointed the dating to 1934-37 when he played for the St Louis Browns. Bat weighs 32.8 ox and 34 3/4". The bat shows significant use with heavy ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, bat rack marks, and cleat marks. The handle has been professionally repaired. MEARS has also confirmed the bat matches factory records. MEARS LOA shows no negative comments. (Full MEARS LOA available at www.goldinauctions.com). A significant relic from one of the all time greats.
