Graded MINT 9 by BGS. Hall of Famer. Cal Ripken's legendary streak of 2,632 consecutive games-played is widely known. What is not common knowledge, however, is the fact that prior to his days at Memorial Stadium, the Baltimore legend displayed iron man tendencies in the minor leagues. Toiling for the O's triple-A Rochester affiliate in 1981, Ripken manned the hot corner every day (including for the entirety of a 33-inning, eight-hour and 25-minute marathon battle against the Pawtucket Red Sox). Less than a year after his final minor league season, Ripken was already underway toward authoring his amazing show of durability. Offered here is a "pre-Rookie Card" collectible highlighting the period just prior to the superstar's ascension to the major-league level. The sought-after card's BGS condition report: Centering: 8.5, Corners: 9.5, Edges: 9.5, Surface: 9. A tough-to-find and significant commemorative, in Mint condition.
