Offered here is a cut that has been signed by Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson and Red Ruffing. Robinson (1919-1972) was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era. Robinson broke the baseball color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. During his 10-year MLB career, Robinson won the inaugural Rookie of the Year Award in 1947, was an All-Star for six consecutive seasons from 1949 through 1954 and won the National League Most Valuable Player Award in 1949—the first black player so honored. Robinson played in six World Series and contributed to the Dodgers' 1955 World Series championship. A member of the Yankees for 15 seasons, Ruffing won 273 MLB games between 1924 and 1947. Ruffing won 20 games in four straight seasons between 1936 and 1939, winning six World Series titles and making six American League All-Star teams during his time in New York. Robinson signed his name in blue pen on this toned cut. Ruffing’s signature is also in blue pen and on the opposite side of Robinson’s signature. This cut has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (84226562) and has been graded Authentic.
