Offered in this lot is a typed letter signed by former United States President Herbert Hoover regarding an important speech by the former statement “on the question of peace” in 1943. The speech in question was to be given in front of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and broadcast over the “Mutual Broadcast System”. The typed letter refers to Hoover’s efforts to have the speech televised in California. The letter was typed at the Waldorf-Astoria Towers in New York and sent to a Dr. Robert A. Peers in California. Hoover has signed this historically significant letter in black pen. Additionally, a photograph of Hoover and his wife, Lou Henry Hoover, is included in this lot. Hoover has signed this photograph in black pen. The lot also includes several typed letters regarding Hoover’s letter to Peers. This lot comes with a University Archives LOA and a Beckett LOA for both the letter and the photograph.
