Presented is a vintage, circa 19th century American musket. The 57-inch brown iron and wood rifle features flintlock hammer sight at the right of the trigger. The hammer plate is engraved with the manufacturer’s name, “E. K. Tryon Philadelphia”. Along the underside of the barrel is a 39-inch brown wood ramrod with a gold metal end handle. The Edward K. Tryon Company was one of the most iconic gun and hardware houses in American history. Founded in 1811 by George Tryon, it was billed as the “oldest gun house in America” for much of the 19th century. Located in Philadelphia at “the Sign of the Golden Buffalo,” 625 Market Street in the heart of the city’s business district and were still in business through the mid-1950s.
