This unique piece collects the signatures of two of the greatest outfielders in Yankees’ history: Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio. The Yankees were fortunate in that they had a seemingly endless supply of great slugging outfielders who could step in when one retired. This is exactly what happened when the Babe left the team after the 1934 season. The Yankees made the call to the West Coast and bought the contract of a young kid named Joe DiMaggio, and within two years he was a fixture in the outfield. Though the pair missed playing side-by-side by just a couple years, Ruth remained close to his old team and was often photographed talking things over with his successor. With one gregarious and bombastic and the other quiet and serious, the two were complete opposites – except when it came to winning World Championships with the Yankees. Over the years DiMaggio would win 9 to Ruth’s 4, but both would be remembered as Yankee icons of the first rank. This DiMaggio portrait print with his facsimile signature has been signed by both Joe (in ballpoint) and the Babe (in fountain pen), a visually attractive and completely unique autographed tribute to two of New York’s finest. Both signatures are strong and display nicely on DiMaggio’s portrait. This piece comes with a LOA from JSA (BB88309) for the signature.
