Presented is a 1963 Bronko Nagurski worn, white cotton long-sleeve dress shirt the Chicago Bears legend wore to his enshrinement ceremony into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.  On January 29, 1963, the inaugural class of honorees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced, which consisted of 17 players and executives that helped make professional football a reality. The first class included 11 former players (Red Grange, Don Hutson, Dutch Clark, Bronko Nagurski, Mel Hein, Pete Henry, Cal Hubbard, Sammy Baugh, Johnny McNally, Ernie Nevers and Jim Thorpe), one founder/owner/coach (George Halas), and five owners/executives (Curly Lambeau, Bert Bell, Joe Carr, Tim Mara and George Marshall). The Pro Football Hall of Fame's charter class of 17 members was enshrined on September 7, 1963. Nagurski’s acceptance speech was short. “Ladies and gentlemen, honored guests. In the past I've been asked many times if I wouldn’t like to return to football. Well I could tell you right now if I had to face what I’ve got sitting behind me nothing could ever get me off the farm. I’ve had a lot of thrills in my life, but I can say sincerely that, to be so honored here today and with this fine group, this is a thrill of all thrills, and I want to thank all you people and all the writers who made this possible. Thank you.” This item comes with a LOA from the Nagurski Family.
