Barry Bonds is known as the All-Time Home Run King, blasting an incredible 762 home runs. However, Bonds was also a formidable defender, winning eight Gold Glove Awards; and while he played left field, Bonds had the speed to play center and was blessed with an above average throwing arm. This "Wilson A2002" glove is from the 1983-85 production period, and was worn by Bonds during the early part of his career in Pittsburgh. This nicely broken in glove exhibits several seasons worth of usage, which coincides with the production of the glove and into Bonds' first several major league seasons, as he likely also used this glove for the brief period he spent in the minor leagues. We have a photo match of Bonds in a 1986 photo shoot at Shea Stadium wearing this glove, and at Three Rivers Stadium during the 1987 season (his second year) which clearly shows Bonds wearing this glove. This particular Wilson glove has his "24 BONDS" written in black marker on the wrist strap, and his name "BONDS" on the outer pinky. The photo match has the same wrist strap handwritten markings. This glove exhibits tremendous game use with heavy pocket and edge wear, plus the usual scrapes from being tossed around the dugout and clubhouse. This glove was used by Bonds during the early part of his major league career, including his rookie season of 1986. With the multiple years' worth of game use, plus the production period years for this glove being 1983-85, we believe this glove was used by Bonds during his brief minor league career of 115 games and the first couple years of his major league career. MEARS LOA, signed by Troy Kinunen, Grading as AUTHENTIC, cert number 307638; with incredible photo match from the 1987 season. An incredible early career Barry Bonds game worn glove.
