Hall of Fame slugger Jim Thome hit the first of his 612 home runs of his acclaimed career during the Indians’ 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium on October 4th, 1991. Thome, who ranks eight on Major League Baseball’s all-time home run list, stepped up to the plate at the top of the ninth with the Yankees leading 2-1. Thome would hit a two-run shot to deep right field off of Yankees closer Steve Farr that sent Reggie Jefferson home and giving the Indians a 3-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, with the Indians holding off the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

Presented here is a full game ticket from the October 4th, 1991 game between the New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians at Yankee Stadium where Jim Thome hit his first career home run.
