You can’t talk Michigan football without thinking of the legacy of Bo Schembechler, the legendary coach who guided the Wolverines to 13 Big Ten champions in his tenure that started in 1969 and lasted until 1989. Schembechler’s record at Michigan was a staggering 194-48-5 and in all but one season they were ranked nationally and placed in the top ten 16 times. Schembechler also resuscitated a dying rivalry with Ohio State when in his first season, he helped lead the Wolverines to an upset victory over his former mentor Woody Hayes’ Buckeyes team that was considered one of the best teams in OSU history.
Presented here is one of the trademark baseball caps worn by Schembechler as he patrolled the Wolverine sideline. This New Era size 7 1/8 cap is all navy with the Michigan “M” embroidered boldly across the front in “maize” yellow. The underside brim of this cap is green and has “BO” handwritten in bold black marker. The hat displays solid use with sweat stains on the white inner head lining and dirt marks on the outer brim. A great piece of Michigan football history from their legendary coach comes with an LOA from MEARS (317700).
