Offered is an extremely rare 1910 Philadelphia Athletics celluloid pocket mirror which features portrait photos of the 1910 World Champion Philadelphia Athletics. Each member of the team is portrayed in tiny individual ovals, with their positions below, surrounding an advertisement in the center for the Equitable Loan Society of Philadelphia, a Philadelphia pawn shop. Includes (top and moving clockwise): Connie Mack (at the top), Collins, Baker, Murphy, Plank, Lord, Krause, Livingstone, Morgan, Davis (Capt.), Houser, Lapp, Coombs, Thomas, Oldring, Barry and Bender. This pocket mirror was distributed as an advertising giveaway by the Equitable Loan Society, and measures 2-3/16 inches in diameter. A similarly designed pocket mirror is also known for the 1909 National League Champion Pirates, however, the A's team mirror is by far the rarer of the two. This example is centered to the lower left and is otherwise in EX-MT condition, with absolutely perfect contrast, and just a few insignificant marks to the mirror side. This is an outstanding example of arguably the nicest and scarcest of all early baseball celluloids.
