After winning the 1982 American League Rookie of the Year, Hall of Famer and baseball’s Iron Man Cal Ripken, Jr. continued his excellent play in 1983 as he earned his first of 19-straight All-Star Game selections. Ripken would finish the 1983 season with 27 home runs, 102 RBI and a .318 average which earned him the first of his two American League MVP awards and a World Series title. Offered here is the American League All-Star warm-up jersey worn by Ripken before the 1983 All-Star Game at the old Comiskey Park in Chicago. This Sand-Knit size X-LARGE pullover mesh jersey has the American League logo, along with “ALL STARS” printed in white on the upper left chest. The “50th ANNIVERSARY” All-Star Game patch is sewn on the left sleeve and the Sand-Knit X-Large tag is sewn on the front left tail. The sleeves and V-neck collar are capped with blue/white/blue stripes. The back does not have a number and in the inside center tail has two tags, one reads “1983 ALL STAR” and the other has “RIPKIN” handwritten in black marker. Please note that Ripken’s name has been mis-spelled. This All-Star pullover jersey comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this item.
