Nicknamed “Megatron” by fellow teammate Roy Williams due to his hands being the size of the feared leader of the Decepticons in Transformers lore, Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson took to the name and adopted it as his own, striking fear in the hearts of opposing secondaries. The six-time Pro Bowl selection, two-time NFL receiving yard leader, and 2012 receptions leader’s 1,964 yards in a season and his eight consecutive 100-yard receiving games are still NFL records.

Presented here is the game used Detroit Lions home jersey worn by Johnson during the Lions 17-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills at Ford Field on October 5, 2014. Johnson caught one pass for seven yards and left the game early due to an ankle injury. The blue pullover jersey features mesh on the lateral sides and front of the jersey and silver, white, and black stripes on the sleeves. The number “81” appears on the chest, shoulders, and back in white-on-gray-on-black tackle twill. “LIONS” is embroidered in white on the chest just below the NFL equipment logo that is affixed to the bottom of the collar. A circular patch containing “WCF” in black, navy, and gray in honor of late Lions owner William Clay Ford is located on the jersey’s left chest. A Nike NFL “ON FIELD SKILL” size “42” manufacturing tag with “2014” flag is located on the inside collar of the jersey, with “BUF” handwritten on the tag in black marker. “JOHNSON” appears across the back of the jersey in white-on-black tackle twill on a matching blue nameplate. Johnson signed and inscribed “MEGATRON” on the back number “1” of the jersey with a black marker. The jersey displays excellent signs of game use with stains on the front of the jersey.
