Graded MINT 9 by PSA. A rare and desirable "Checklist Back" version of this Stooges design. This is one of seven examples at its tier (with two graded higher) among a total of 81 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting. Collectors who build sets of sports cards are well-acquainted with the concept of "key" cards. Those are the numbers that appear on every hobbyist's wantlist for a given series, and which never seem to turn up in quantity (even in the celebrated "finds"). Non-sports sets have their key cards also, and one of the most famous is presented here. The checklist cards, from Fleer's 1959 Three Stooges issue, are notoriously difficult. Their scarcity is compounded by the fact that they share front images. There's no difficulty in finding a number 16 for the set, but a number 16 with a checklist back is next to impossible. The offered example has been graded and encapsulated at a top-quality level by PSA. The piece is gorgeous, with pure-white borders and dramatic clarity of color for this gently hued series. Best of all, when the card is turned over, there's the full, 96-card, checklist reverse that "soitenly" makes this card special. This is one of the non-sports world's most-coveted pieces, available here in a level of condition that raises the card to a truly elite status. Mint condition.
