Two-time NHL MVP, three-time league goal-scoring leader, Art Ross Trophy winner… the list goes on and on when it comes to Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin’s accomplishments in his still-developing career.
This red, game-used Washington Capitals home jersey was worn by Alexander Ovechkin in a 2011-12 season that saw the dynamic right winger post 38 goals and 27 assists. The chest of the sweater features the famed “capitals” logo with a hockey stick for the “l” in navy blue and while on a red patch. “OVECHKIN” appears across the back with his number “8” on the back and both sleeves in white-on-navy blue tackle twill. Ovechkin’s captains patch is stitched on the left chest of the jersey in navy blue-on-white tackle twill. Capitals logos featuring an eagle spreading its wings appears stitched on both shoulders, with an NHL logo patch on the front neck and Reebok patch on the back collar. The inside back of the jersey features a white Velcro tie-down strap with silver button that helps keeps the player’s sweater attached to his equipment. A Canadian flag tag with size “58” is affixed to the inside collar of the jersey. The jersey exhibits light signs of game use on the left sleeve, likely left from contact with the rubber puck, all of which appears original. A “MeiGray Group NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2011-20012 Season” patch is sewn on the inside back tail of the jersey with number I00135 for certification.
