Mariano Rivera, who will one day be enshrined into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame, left the game after the 2013 season as the sport’s all-time saves leader with 652. He’s one of only two pitchers with more than 600 saves. This signed base from Rivera’s 2013 farewell season sees the closer’s signature in bold, black Sharpie centered on the left side on top of the bag. The second base bag was used from the top of the third inning through the bottom of the fifth inning in a 5-2 win over the Orioles that saw Rivera pitch a scoreless ninth to notch his second save of the young season at Yankee Stadium. The dirt covered bag features the “Schutt,” “Original Hollywood Bases” and “Jack Corbett” logos on top along with the official Major League Baseball logo. The underside of the base, also dirt stained around the perimeter, features the inscription “Bottom 2” and “2nd Base” in bold, blue Sharpie. Each side of the base features New York Yankees logo plates, two of which are white with navy blue writing, while the other two are navy blue with white writing. The base has month and year manufacturer markings in the corner opposite of the “Bottom 2” and “2nd Base” inscriptions and comes with an LOA from Steiner Sports and MLB Authentication number EK423909.
