The 1998 All-Star Game was held on February 8, 1998 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Eastern Conference, featuring All-Star Game MVP Michael Jordan, defeated the Western Conference 135-114. The game is noted for being the All-Star Game debuts of Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant and San Antonio Spur Tim Duncan. Bryant would lead the Western Conference in points with 18, and Jordan would win his third All-Star Game MVP.
