Created by noted sneaker designer Peter C. Moore for Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan, the Air Jordan I’s were the sneakers that launched a thousand collections. Featuring the red and black colorway of the Nike Air Ship, the original Air Jordan I’s were banned by then-National Basketball Association Commissioner David Stern for violating the “51% Rule” that required all sneakers to consist of 51% white colorway. The banning was a stroke of luck for the Nike marketing team, who used it to imply that the Air Jordan I give the wearer an unfair advantage on the court. Presented here is an original Air Jordan I size 9 ½ sneaker signed by Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and greatest basketball player in NBA history, Michael Jordan. The sneaker boasts the classic red and black colorway, with the iconic Nike “Swoosh” logo appearing on the instep and outstep of the sneaker in red. The leather sneakers feature a red toe box and a white mudguard. Red laces adorn the black tongue labeled “NIKE AIR” with a Nike “Swoosh” logo in red on the top of the tongue. The Air Jordan “Wings” logo and “AIR JORDAN” adorn the outside upper of the left-footed sneaker in black. The red rubber soles feature “NIKE” and the “swoosh” logo stamped in red on the midsole of the sneaker. Jordan signed the outside upper of the sneaker with a black marker. The signature is bold and the white mudguard of the sneaker has faded. The Nike Air Jordan I signed by six-time NBA champion and six-time NBA Finals MVP Michael Jordan come with an LOA from Beckett Authentication (AA09033).
