It is easy to forget under a dizzying array of accomplishments that Hall of Famer Michael Jordan is a two-time National Basketball Association Slam Dunk Champion. The six-time NBA champion and six-time Finals MVP made a name for himself early on with his demonstrated spectacular athleticism during the Slam Dunk Contests, dispatching Jerome Kersey of the Portland Trail Blazers in 1987. Jordan faced and defeated noted slam dunker Dominique Wilkins of the Atlanta Hawks during a hotly contested 1988 Slam Dunk Contest that saw Jordan defend his Slam Dunk title against arguably one of the best dunkers in the game.
Presented here is a 20 x 24-inch photo from the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest and is signed by Michael “His Airness” Jordan. The photo captures Jordan mid-flight as he approaches the net during his perfect 50 dunk from the free-throw line that won him his second consecutive Slam Dunk Contest championship. A crowd of enraptured spectators, mouths agape in anticipation, look on as Jordan seems to touch the scoreboard. Two of the judges, former NBA superstar Tom Hawkins and Pro Football Hall of Fame Chicago Bears halfback Gayle Sayers sit at the judges table labeled “SLAM-DUNK CHAMPIONSHIP” seemingly in awe of Jordan’s high-flying acrobatics. Jordan signed the top of the image with a silver metallic paint pen. The signature is bold and the photo is pristine and features no scratches. The 20 x 24-inch photo of Jordan capturing his second Slam Dunk title comes with a COA from Upper Deck Authenticated hologram (BAM21106).
