The New York Yankees finished second in the American League in 1933 with a record of 91-59. Though they didn’t capture the pennant that year, the Yankees were still a major force with its star-studded roster, having six Hall of Famers in their batting order and three in the pitching rotation. Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig paced the offense, with each Hall of Famer hitting over 30 home runs, 100 RBI, and at least .304.
19 members of the 1933 World Series champion New York Yankees have signed this Official American League William Harridge stamped baseball. Babe Ruth’s distinctive signature appears on the sweet spot. The north panel has “9-14-33” inscribed in an unknown hand, along the signatures of Hall of Famers Bill Dickey, Tony Lazzeri, Herb Pennock and Lefty Gomez. The south panel has Lyn Larry, a clubhouse signature of Lou Gehrig, Danny MacFayden, Dixie Walker and Sam Byrd. The west panel with the Reach stamp has Frank Crosetti, Joe Sewell, Russ Van Alta, Charlie Devens and Wilcy Moore (signed “Cy Moore”). The east panel has George Uhle, Hall of Famer Earle Combs, Doc Farrell (signed “Eddie Farrell” and Hall of Famer Red Ruffing (signed “Chas Ruffing”). The ball is in excellent condition with the signatures bold and the stampings bright. There is a coating of shellac that has preserved the baseball and signatures. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication, who have deemed the Gehrig signature a clubhouse version.
