The late Hall of Famer Edward “Whitey” Ford was a mainstay in the dominant New York Yankees teams of the 1950’s. Ford was an All-Star in five of those seasons during the decade of the 1950’s and missed two years due to military service in Korea. Ford’s dominance on the mound was not coincidental to the dominance of the Yankees had on the field during that decade as he was on four World Series-winning teams (1950, 1953, 1956 and 1958) and won the AL pennant in 1955 and 1957. Ford earned entry in the Hall of Fame with his longtime teammate and friend Mickey Mantle in 1974.

Offered here is one of the undershirts worn by Whitey Ford during the 1950’s. This shirt was manufactured by Tim McAuliffe Inc. of Boston, Mass. and has been attributed to Ford. This shirt is a size 42 and has a white (now off-white) torso with navy sleeves. This shirt displays excellent wear with two light stains on the front and a small hole on the back left shoulder. Additionally, there are two small holes on the right sleeve. The upper back has “FORD”, “16” handwritten in black marker and the Hall of Famer has signed his name in black marker just below inscribing “#16” and “My 1950’s shirt”. A great gamer from one of the best pitchers in baseball history and this comes with a LOA from J.T. Sports (1335) for the use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for Ford’s signature.
