The tradition of Old Timers Day began on July 4, 1939, for "Lou Gehrig Day" when Lou Gehrig was being honored at Yankee Stadium. Many teams with rich histories eventually followed suit, bringing in retired players for a celebration. In 1968, the Atlanta Braves held and Old Timers Day and game. This toned Wilson "Scalp 'Em Braves" Official League baseball tamped "OLD TIMERS GAME ATLANTA 1968" on the sweet spot. contains 19 ink signatures with seven Hall of Famers. Includes: Joe Medwick, Jimmie Dykes (both on sweet spot), Rudy York, Cecil Travis, Luke Appling, Joe Sewell, Luke Sewell, Bob Turley, Enos Slaughter, Earl Wooten, Will Nixon, Al Lopez, Heinie Manush, Dixie Walker, Bill Dickey and a couple others.
