The 1948 St. Louis Browns were four years removed from their sole World Series appearance, and now were beginning to usher in a round of doormat seasons. This heavily shellacked baseball contains 27 signatures including: Zach Taylor (sweet spot), Les Moss, Bill Kennedy, Al Widmar, Cliff Fannin, Al Zarilla, Joe Schultz, Fred Sanford, Dick Kokos, Karl Drews, Bryan Stephens, Eddie Pellagrini, Ned Garver, Don Lund, Fred Hofmann, Hank Arft, Roy Partee, Whitey Platt, Sam Dente, Jerry Priddy, Ralph Schwamb (his only major league season!), Ralph Winegarner, Joe Ostrowski, Frank Biscan, Rob Dillinger, Andy Anderson and Paul Lehner. The signatures grade a bold ink ("7-9"), and is also inscribed "ST. LOUIS BROWNS 1948" on the opposite of the label less baseball. A very rarely seen team signed baseball.
