Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda “The Baby Bull” was selected as the National League's Rookie of the Year in 1958 and formed a lethal trio in the middle of the San Francisco Giants order that also featured Willie Mays and Willie McCovey. After nine seasons with the Giants, Cepeda was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1966 and then traded to the Atlanta Braves following the 1968 season. During the 1971 season with Atlanta, Cepeda batted a solid .271 with 14 home runs and 44 RBI in only 71 games.
Cepeda used this Adirondack 246X model bat during the 1971 season. This bat displays excellent game use and is un-cracked. There are several ball marks, stitch impressions and blue bat rack streaks present on the barrel. There is a light coating of pine tar on the handle and center brand and the bat’s model number “246X” is stamped on the knob. Also on the knob is Cepeda’s number “30” and the bat’s weight “40” handwritten in faded black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19826) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of GU 9.
