Dubbed “The Say Hey Kid” by sportswriter Barney Kremenko after the reluctant Mays would blurt out “Say who; Say what; Say where; Say hey” when interviewed during his rookie season.  “If somebody came up and hit .450 stole 100 bases, and performed a miracle on the field every day, I’d still look you in the eyes and say Willie was better” noted Hall of Famer Lou Durocher said about the multi-talented Mays. A power hitter, Mays hit 660 home runs, and four in one game in 1961, and was a four-time National League stolen base leader. The 1951 NL Rookie of the Year was twice named the NL MVP, Mays won his only World Series title in 1954 where he made “The Catch,” where he caught an over-the-shoulder catch during Game 1. The 12-time Gold Glove Award winner’s catch is regarded as one of the greatest plays in sports history. Mays entered the National Baseball Hall of Fame on the first ballot in 1979.

Presented here is a black and white photo of Willie Mays framed to 16 x 20-inches and signed by the Hall of Fame baseball virtuoso Mays. The photo rests upon a white with gray accent matte and shows a kinetic Mays taking a swing in front of a packed stadium. Mays signed the photo with a blue marker. The signature is bold and the photo is in great condition. The signed and framed photo of Mays comes with a COA from Steiner Sports.
