Encapsulated with Autograph assessed "Authentic" by BGS. (A PSA/DNA authentication label is adhered to the card's back.) Rookie Card. The careful, blue ballpoint scripting, "Elston Howard," scrolls comfortably below the Yankee catcher's own likeness on this appealing and rare signed collectible from the 1955 Bowman release. The piece concedes four cardboard-puncture holes (not affecting the player's likeness or penmanship) but nevertheless presents nicely. Howard, who was the New York Yankees' first African-American ballplayer and is regarded as one of baseball's greatest defensive catchers, passed away in 1980.
