A charter member of both the College and Pro Football Hall of Fames, Harold Edward “Red” Grange was a three-time All-American while playing halfback for the University of Illinois where he led the team to a national championship in 1923. After leaving college, Grange joined the Chicago Bears of the National Football League in 1925 where he toured the country in an effort to drum up support for the nascent league. He left after a year to form the American Football League in 1926, playing for the New York Yankees. The league lasted one year before it shutdown and was absorbed into the NFL. Grange returned to the Bears in 1929 and played with the team until he retired in 1934. Grange had 21 rushing and 10 receiving touchdowns during a career that saw Grange win two NFL titles and two First-Team All-Pro honors.

This presented item is a 10 x 8-inch black and white photo featuring the famed Red Grange running with a football. Grange is wearing a number “77” jersey is striking an athletic pose. Grange signed the photo on the left side of the photo with a blue marker. The signature is bold and the photo is in good condition. The 10 x 8 photo of Grange signed by the Hall of Famer comes with a COA from JSA (KK42838).
