Graded by PSA NM+ 7.5. Offered is a 1966 Philadelphia #38 Gale Sayers Rookie Card. The front of the card features a posed, color action photograph of the Chicago Bears halfback without a helmet in a light blue Bears jersey, #40, with a football tucked in under his right arm, left arm outstretched "Heisman Trophy" style. The back of the card has a brief bio sketch of Sayers printed in black on white and green, alongside a "Guess Who Quiz" at the right side of the card. Nicknamed the "Kansas Comet", Sayers played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks football team of the University of Kansas, where he compiled 4,020 all-purpose yards over three seasons and was twice recognized as a consensus All-American. In Sayers' rookie NFL season, he set a league record by scoring 22 touchdowns—including a record-tying six in one game—and gained 2,272 all-purpose yards en route to being named the NFL's Rookie of the Year. This card has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA (26568785) which has graded this card NM+ 7.5.
