Offered here is the first gum card of the athlete who held baseball's single-season home run crown for more than three decades. Displaying top-notch condition in every respect, this is an extraordinary example from the often sensitive and unforgiving 1958 Topps set. On the card's front, bright white borders and pristine corners frame a magnificent photograph of the young North Dakotan in his Cleveland uniform. The overall effect of the item's aesthetic, highlighted by exceptional centering, is to delight the eyes. Maris' likeness, and its breathtaking orange background, are uncommonly lush in appearance. These features, and every other element of the item's visual presentation, are crisply resolved and unblemished.
