Geno Smith put up huge offensive numbers as the Mountaineers quarterback, parlaying those achievements into being a second round draft pick of the New York Jets, becoming the starting quarterback his first season. This Riddell helmet was worn by Smith during his great 2012 season all year, and specifically in the 2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl. On the back is the 2012 New Era Pinstripe Bowl decal, indicating this helmet was worn by Smith during his last college game, a 38-14 loss to Syracuse. This could only be since the last game West Virginia played during 2012 was on December, 1, 2012, and the school accepted the Pinstripe Bowl bid a day later. The outer shell also features the WV lettering on both sides, with six stickers, most notably the Pinstripe Bowl sticker and a round sticker with "SANDY HOOK ELELMENTARY REMEBERED FOREVER" honoring those tragically killed. The inside has a unique double-depth padding construction, Smith's number "12" near each ear hole and the usual warning labels. In addition, a Schutt manufacturers sticker with the date May 2010 appears inside. One side is signed and inscribed "2012 Season Game Worn Geno Smith #12." Nice visible wear on the crown and facemask. Great college helmet from a solid young NFL quarterback, worn during his last game for West Virginia.
