While it didn’t score any cinematic awards, the 1962 movie capitalized on the immense popularity of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris, and their pursuits of Babe Ruth’s home run record. Fans flocked to the theaters, and saw their heroes on the big screen helping a young boy, learn about life and land on his feet. This collection of four lobby cards (there were a total of eight issued), feature bright and colorful images of particular scenes of the movie, one including Mantle, Maris and 1962 Rookie of the Year Tom Tresh. All but the Mantle/Maris card exhibit all the usual issues with corner pinholes, edge wear and light staining, and have the number “62 225”stamped in the lower right corners. However, the Mantle/Maris card is pinhole and number free, grading VG/EX. In addition, an important folded supplement is included with this lot. This "Columbia Pressbook" was included with the lobby cards when they were distributed to theaters. Measuring 15-1/2" x 37-1/4", this large black-and-white brochure was prepared by Columbia Pictures to "coach" theater managers in effective promotion during the term of movie’s local showing. This accessory to "Safe at Home" is rarely seen – targeted to theater managers – and most were likely tossed when the movie had its run. Contains the usual folded corner issues, but is otherwise clean and is in Excellent condition. Great collection of items from this popular 1962 movie featuring Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris.
