The Authentic Sports Autograph Company released their first single player set in 1982, featuring 72 cards of Mickey Mantle. According to the company, 20,000 sets were produced with 5,000 sets containing a hand signed autograph by Mantle on the header card. The set chronicles Mantle's baseball life from his rookie year of 1951 through his appearance at the Yankees Old-Timers Game in 1981 (the 25th Anniversary of Don Larsen’s perfect game), and everything in between. Many of the photos used for the set were provided by Mantle, making this project more than just “Mickey endorsed”. Although 20,000 sets were produced, how many uncut sheets survived? We think not many. Offered is an uncut sheet of those 72 cards, not originally signed by Mantle, but who marked his territory by applying a later “Best Wished Mickey Mantle” inscription and signature near the left middle. The bold, blue Sharpie signature rates a perfect (“10”). Framed to a dimension of 28.75 x 38.75 inches, this item is certainly a one-of-a-kind Mickey Mantle signed display. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
