Graded PR 1 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Clearly, this is one of the most beautiful Christy Mathewson cards ever produced. The lovely "E" card features a detailed picture of "Big Six" in a set-to-pitch pose, with lush pastel hues in the background. The card has Matty's surname (misspelled "Matthewson") and team affiliation printed on the front, with a series checklist on the reverse. This example is well-centered with great colors. Light wear is evident at the corners. Now, for the bad news: the card's back evidently spent most of its existence adhered to another surface (a scrapbook page?) and in the process of careless removal incurred merciless devastation. The series' checklist suffered mightily, but the piece's obverse is still nothing less than splendid. In other words, this is a very desirable card that retains tremendous visual appeal in its most important side. Nominally Poor condition.
