The Silver Slugger Award is awarded annually to the best offensive player at each position in both the American League and the National League, as determined by the coaches and managers of Major League Baseball. The Silver Slugger was first awarded in 1980 and is given by Hillerich & Bradsby, the manufacturer of Louisville Slugger bats. The bat is usually engraved with the names of each of the winners from the league and plated with sterling silver. Offered is an exact prototype of the bat presented to these respective Sliver Slugger Award winners. This example is 33.75 inches long, weighs 28.5 ounces, has the standard Louisville Slugger 125 label etched in the appropriate location, and there is a very small factory produced hole on the knob. The bat extremely smooth, silver plated, and contains a few non-descript scratches. It presents very well. It is very rare one of the prototypes has come upon the market, and this is the first example we have ever seen.
