Offered is a magnificent amateur team photo of the 1914 “The Kimball System” baseball team, which the players appear to be of high school age. The 12 players and two managers are dressed in several different styles of their game uniforms, and, typical of the era, several pieces of equipments are strategically placed. On each side is a “The Kimball System” pennant and the front man is carrying the team insignia plaque indicating the year of “1914”. The lower right corner of the 15-1/8 x 18-3/8 inch sepia image contains “The Marion Studio 1914” photography stamp. Beautifully placed on a slightly larger mount, the image is in tremendous condition, save an area of slight warping along the top edge. Below the photo and mount is a catchy poem which appears to be written for the teams “owner.” This indicates the team might not have been a high school team, but players of high school age, and this tremendously framed photo was likely a presentation piece to one of the two men in the picture dressed in a suit. This magnificent photo is handsomely presented in a 26 x 26.5 inch period frame, and is one of the nicest amateur team photos we have ever seen.
