Opening Day Auction 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/26/2014
Offered is an extremely rare and attractive jersey worn by the Cardinals' star third baseman on August 3, 2007 when St. Louis and Washington both wore the uniforms of the St. Louis Stars and Homestead Grays, showing reverence to those vintage Negro League teams. The city name "ST. LOUIS" is in the old-fashioned block letter arching across the chest, with Rolen's number "27" appearing on the reverse along with his bold, black Sharpie signature. The lower front tail has the "AIS" manufacturer’s size "50" tag. Each shoulder exhibits evident wear with black staining on the both. In this particular game, Rolen went 1 for 5 in a 3-2 walk off loss at Washington. Jersey comes with a LOA from game used expert Dave Miedema, and the signature has been authenticated by PSA/DNA.
