Behind the gritty performances of Orel “The Bulldog” Hershiser and a little magic from Kirk Gibson and Mickey Hatcher, the 1988 Los Angeles Dodgers upset the heavily favored Oakland A’s four games to one in the World Series. This pair of Rawlings Official World Series Peter V Ueberroth balls is stamped with a bright red 1988 MLB World Series logo and carries most of the signatures of the Dodgers Series participants. The first of two has been kept in a plastic cube and contains 25 signatures all in blue ballpoint pen on an off-white ball with a slight caramel finish including manager Tom Lasorda on the sweet spot and also includes: Fernando Valenzuela, Rick Dempsey, Joe Ferguson, Mike Scioscia, Jay Howell, John Tudor, Mike Sharperson, Tim Belcher, Alejandro Pena, Jeff Hamilton, Tim Crews, Kirk Gibson, Ron Cey, Franklin Stubbs, Bill Russell, Alfredo Griffin, Ron Perranoski, Dave Anderson, Jose Gonzalez, Brian Holton and four others. The second ball also has Tom Lasorda’s signatures on the sweet spot and includes: Orel Hershiser, Kirk Gibson, Mickey Hatcher, Tracy Woodson, Mike Scioscia, Tim Crews, Rick Dempsey, Steve Sax, Ron Perranoski, Jeff Hamilton, Alfredo Griffin, Dave Anderson, Brian Holton, Tim Leary, Jay Howell, Mike Sharperson, Tim Belcher, Franklin Stubbs, John Tudor, Bill Russell, Ron Cey, and Jose Gonzalez. This ball has undergone a greater much greater bronzing than the first. Lot has been pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
