Graded NM 7 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among more than 3,000 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, barely three percent of the total population have been placed at a higher, unqualified tier. Topps' selection of Jackie Robinson, to appear on the first card in the company's 1953 set, inadvertently created one of the hobby's most popular condition rarities. The card is very difficult to find without perceptible amounts of wear, especially in the unforgiving black caption area. The offered example is accurately graded in its present holder, but that knowledge doesn't adequately highlight its crispness of image and overall aesthetic quality. The colors are bright and clear, and this, coupled with the card's commendable level of original gloss, allows Jackie's portrait to project marvelously from the piece's surface. All four corners are square, and an attractive rough cut is seen at the top edge. Near Mint condition, with remarkable eye appeal.
