President Dwight David Eisenhower, a notorious sports fan, attended the Yankees/Senators game on August 31, 1956, and spoke with Mantle briefly before the game. Original paper caption on reverse states Eisenhower wanted to see Mickey hit a home run, and Mantle obliged by crushing his 47th round tripper of the season. This 7” x 9” photo has editor cropping marks surrounding the two men with date stamps, pencil markings and portion of newspaper caption on verso. Excellent photo from two of the greatest men of the decade of the 1950s.
