Released in North America on February 23, 1999, the survival horror game follows Harry Mason as he searches for his missing adopted daughter in the fictional town of Silent Hill. With a haunting score and emphasis on psychological horror that relied on a haunting atmosphere, this presented title set the bar for the survival horror genre. The game sold over two million copies, and its legacy within the survival horror genre has influenced countless games.
