A third of the way through the 2013 season, the Los Angeles Dodgers were struggling in last place. 8.5 game back and needed a spark for all that assorted talent. Enter Yasiel Puig, the young Cuban defector. Puig started hitting immediately, and with his reckless full-tilt style of play, sparked the Dodgers to an almost unprecedented run to win their division by 11 games. This is the first Puig game worn jersey to come to the auction market! The gray, road button-down “Cool Base” jersey has “Los Angeles” scripted in Dodger blue across the chest, complete with seraph. On the left side is Puig’s unique number “66” in red. The lower front tail has the “Majestic Authentic Size 50” painted tag affixed with MLB hologram (EK 671685), while inside the collar is a gray strip tag with “66 PUIG 50 2013” stitched in black thread . Across the back is his name “PUIG” on a gray nameplate with his number “66” below, both in blue tackle twill. The MLB authenticate hologram states this jersey was worn during the July 2, 2013 game at Colorado. Puig was 2-5, 2B, HR, 2 R, and the one RBI. He hit his 8th home run this game, only his 27th major league game, and was hitting .443 after this performance. The front exhibits a tremendous amount of infield clay; indicative of Puig’s headfirst style, as he was caught stealing second base early in the game.
