Widely known as Gold Medal Flour, this set of 12 cards was issued from October to December 1934 to commemorate the 1934 World Series, a classic seven-game contest between the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers. These cards were redeemed for a single Wheaties box top, and were returned in an envelope from “Gold Medal Foods” of Minneapolis. MN. This offered Mickey Cochrane example is one of the keys to the set (the other being Dizzy Dean), which is comprised of six cards from each World Series participant. This card is virtually un-improvable with razor sharp corners, perfect centering and a pristine image of Cochrane, at that time widely considered the best catcher ever to play. The blank reverse is very clean with a minute area of toning, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy. SGC Graded 88 NM/MT 8.
