This exquisite panorama features the champions of the International and American Association before the start of the 1926 Little World Series. The Toronto Maple Leafs pitching staff featured a 23 year-old lefty named Carl Hubbell that year and 22 other Maple Leafs had played or went on to the majors. The Leafs swept Louisville 5-0, establishing themselves as one of the best Canadian teams of all-time. This is a perfect example of the panoramic photograph, the most beautiful and desirable of all team photos. The 7 1/2" x 33 1/2" sepia tone print shows amazing detail from the stylish maple leaf caps of Toronto to the rumpled road grays of the Colonels. The facial expressions are priceless, including the young Hubbell, his determined, steely-eyed gaze cast off into the distance. This extraordinary panorama comes from the personal collection of the team's ace, Walter "Lefty" Stewart. Lefty was an 18 game winner that season and later went on to carve out a nice 10 year career with the Tigers, Browns, Senators and Indians.
