Offered here are two pairs of batting gloves used by legendary slugger David Ortiz. The Red Sox superstar retired after the 2016 MLB season, and saw the Red Sox retire his number “34” shortly after. Ortiz ended his career on a high note, clubbing 38 homers with an American League-best 127 RBI and a .315 batting average. Ortiz was the catalyst for three World Series Champion teams in 2004, 2007 and 2013. The first pair are Marucci gloves in red and yellow, with a raised Marucci logo applied to the top of each hand. “Marucci” is applied to the wrist strap of the left-hand glove in white letters. Ortiz’s number “34” is applied to the underside of each wrist strap. Ortiz has signed the palm of each glove in silver marker, inscribing “GU” below each signature. These gloves display moderate use and come with a LOA from David Ortiz.
The second pair of gloves were manufactured by Franklin and are red and with navy accents. They have a raised Franklin logo applied to the top of each hand. A navy, white and red MLB logo is located on the top of each wrist band, while a Franklin logo is applied to the underside of each. Ortiz’s number “34” is printed on each wrist band in white. Ortiz has signed each glove in silver marker, inscribing “GU” below his signature. These gloves display heavy game use and come with a LOA from David Ortiz.
