Featured are two black and white photographs of Hall of Famers Hank Greenberg and Goose Goslin. The first photograph is of Detroit Tigers’ first baseman Hank Greenberg. “The Hebrew Hammer Hammer” as he was called, would be a four-time All-Star, a 1935 MVP, and a two-time World Series champion. A devout Jew, Greenberg gained attention for refusing to play on Yom Kippur, and would go on to serve in the US military during WWII. This small photograph is signed Greenberg in blue ink and is inscribed: “To Harold Esch – with my best regards – Sgt. Hank Greenberg, March 31, 1942”. This small photograph is matted and framed measuring 10 ½ x 13 ½ inches.
The second photograph is of left fielder Goose Goslin. A powerful left handed swinger, Goslin was an American League RBI leader (1924), American League batting champion (1928), and a two-time World Series Champion. The New Jersey native would be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1968. This photograph features a profile of Goslin with his Detroit Tigers cap. He has signed the bottom of the picture in black ink. This photo is matted and framed standing 12 x 14 inches. This lot comes with a prior JSA Auction Letter and has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
