The devastating terrorist attacks launched by Al Qaeda on September 11, 2001 against the Pentagon, World Trade Center, and flight 93 that crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania resulted in 2,977 innocent deaths and brought the world to a standstill. The largest attack on American soil was orchestrated by terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden from his base of operations in Afghanistan. A stunned nation was left reeling from the attacks, with all the major magazines covering the events in vivid detail. Presented here are two TIME magazines and one Newsweek magazine depicting the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks and were signed by the Navy Seal who finally brought Bin Laden to justice, Robert J. O’Neil. O’Neil was a member of the Seal Team 6 Raid on Bin Laden’s Abbottabad, Pakistan compound on May 2, 2011 that resulted with O’Neil killing Bin Laden, ending a ten-year manhunt for the world’s most wanted terrorist.

The first item in this lot is an 8 x 10 ½ -inch TIME Magazine special edition magazine signed by U.S. Navy Seal Robert J. O’Neil. The cover is labeled “TIME” in red across the top of a photo of the Twin Towers on fire with debris raining down. “SEPTEMBER 11 2001” is labeled in white on the bottom of the cover. O’Neil signed and inscribed “NEVER QUIT!” with a blue marker on the cover of the TIME magazine with a blue marker. The signature is bold and magazine is in great condition. The second item in this lot is an 8 x 10 ½ -inch TIME Magazine “SPECIAL ISSUE” dated to September 24, 2001 and is labeled “One Nation, Indivisible” in black at the top. “TIME” appears across the cover of the magazine in red, white, blue, and black. “America digs out-and digs in” is labeled in black on the right side of the cover. The cover photo is of President George W. Bush holding an American flag while standing atop the rubble flanked by firefighters while holding a bullhorn. U.S. Navy Seal Robert J. O’Neil signed and inscribed “NEVER QUIT!” with a blue marker on the cover of the magazine. The signature is bold and the magazine features some elements of cornering. The magazine is labeled “EXCLUSIVE TRAIL OF TERROR INSIDE THE 10-YEAR MANHUNT FOR OSAMA BIN LADEN” in white and yellow lettering. “TARGET: AFGHANISTAN PULLOUT MAP” is labeled on the right corner of the magazine.
