Early on in his career, Alex Rodriguez staked his claim as the premiere power hitter in baseball. In fact, it was thought by many that he would one day pass the holy home run trinity of Willie Mays, Babe Ruth, and Hank Aaron to retire as baseball’s career home run leader. Things don’t always work out the way we expect, and A-Rod retired earlier this season, still looking up at Ruth, Aaron, and Barry Bonds. On May 1, 2015 at Fenway Park in Boston, A-Rod did catch Mays, belting his 660th career round tripper with an 8th inning pinch hit home run off Red Sox reliever Junichi Tazawa. The shot would prove to be the game winner, and 6 days later Rodriguez would hit #661, passing Mays to take sole possession of fourth place on the all-time list. This collection of two baseballs and two bases were all game used on May 1, 2015 at Fenway Park. The bases were used at first and third, from the 5th to the 9th innings, A-Rod touching both of these bags on his historic home run trot.
