Offered is a collection of Cal Ripken Jr. game-used equipment used on September 9th, 2001 against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field in Baltimore’s final game before the tragedy of 9/11. The Mariners won this game 6-0, improving their record to 103-40, on their way to a historic 116-win regular season. This was the 2,981st of Ripken’s 3,001 career MLB games. Included in this lot are a pair of black and orange Nike cleats, a pair of gray road baseball pants, two black and orange Franklin batting gloves, a pair of black and white socks, black Nike Dri Fit undershorts, and tape used on Ripken’s ankles. Sewn on the back inside waistband of the pants are a Majestic tag and a “8 Ripken 38-40 37 01” swatch. This lot comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. with a signed LOA from Cal accompanying the game used collection.
